Spring Flooding Awareness in New Hampshire
Following winters with heavy snowfall, spring time always carries a risk of moderate to severe flooding. This spring is especially dangerous as we turn the corner from a winter that brought record snowfalls throughout New England. To bring awareness to the dangers of flooding in New Hampshire, Governor Maggie Hassan has proclaimed March 16 to 20 as Flood Safety Awareness Week.
The state of New Hampshire has seen 10 federal emergency declarations related to flooding in just the last 10 years. Everyone in New Hampshire lives in a flood risk zone, whether it is a low, medium, or high risk area. Many homeowners are also unaware that their home insurance policies typically do not cover flood damage.
The National Flood Insurance Program backs all of our flood insurance packages, so that you get the coverage you need when the waters rise. Contact us at 603.224.0993 for a for more information.
Supervise at All Times Around Water
Supervise your kids at all times when they are around or in the water. Don't assume that just because your child took swimming lessons or is using a flotation device such as an inner tube or inflatable raft that there's no drowning risk.
If you're at a party, it's especially easy to become distracted, so designate an adult who will be responsible for watching the children.
